About helptariff

Who runs it

helptariff is built and run by Alvin Lim, an independent developer based in Taipei, Taiwan. Alvin works in Korean, English and Chinese — the languages of the four markets this site covers: Korea, the United States, Taiwan and China.

Why it exists

Small sellers and individuals shipping between these four markets keep asking the same three questions: which HS code is this, what duty applies, and do I need a customs broker? The official answers exist, but they are spread across four customs systems in four languages. helptariff puts them on one page per product code and route.

Where the data comes from

  • Tariff rates, HS nomenclature and import requirements come from the official schedules and agency lists of Korea, the United States, Taiwan and China. Each block on a result page shows its source and as-of date.
  • Classification evidence comes from published customs rulings: Korea Customs Service, US CBP (CROSS) and Taiwan Customs.
  • The product-name search runs on a curated dictionary in your browser, not on a generative AI model.
  • Explanatory notes are written with AI assistance and checked against the sources they cite. Rates and rulings are not AI-generated.

What it is not

helptariff is information, not customs advice. Confirm the classification and the rules in force on your entry date with the customs authority, the responsible agency or a licensed broker before you file. No ads, no accounts, no tracking.
